This picture is a rare reminder of how small I truly am in the universe. Life can so easily trick us into thinking it is about us, but in that moment of snapping this warm image, I was reminded with sudden clarity, it is not about me. I am simply Earth’s humble servant. I carry a fierce, urgent desire to care for this home. This forest belongs to the woodpecker, the great family of wild boar I spotted on this particular walk, the towering oak trees, and the field of wild blueberries. I captured it on a stunning late summer night, and it continues to inspire me. There is a serenity I can’t quite explain, but I return to it often. Perhaps one day it will find a permanent place on canvas in my studio. Until that day, it belongs here in my digital exhibition, a place for inspirations and the images that may one day become my reference photos for my paintings.
